"Dora Thorne" was the title of a novel written by Charlotte M. Brame. Many later stories were published as "By the author of 'Dora Thorne,'" or "By 'Dora Thorne'." After Mrs. Brame's death, this became a stock name with Street & Smith, and various other writers wrote love stories with this name in the by-line.
