George Henry Prentice was probably the true name of the author of three novels written for Beadle and several times reprinted. No biographical data are available. †Denis R. Rogers, from a study of the stories of Prentice and of the various characters depicted, suggested in a letter of June 8, 1958, that Prentice may have been Edward S. Ellis.
