Watts Phillips, English novelist, playwright, and illustrator, was born in November, 1825, and died December 3, 1874. He studied under George Cruikshank, but while he continued drawing, his principal work was as a writer. His first novel, "An Accomodarion Bill," was published in 1849, and his first play, "The Dead Heart," in 1859.
