William Edward Norris, English novelist, was born in London in 1847. He was the son of Sir William Norris, the Chief Justice of Ceylon. He was educated at Eton and was admitted to the bar at the Inner Temple in 1874, but never practiced. He wrote a series of novels, most of which first appeared as serials in various periodicals. His first novel, "Heaps of Money," was published in 1877; his last, "Next of Kin," in 1924. He died at his home in Torquay, November 20, 1925.
