Holt, Arthur F.

The only personal item so far found about Arthur F. Holt is that he was a winner in a puzzle contest conducted by Frank Leslie's Boys' and Girls' Weekly.(1) His address was given as Grand Rapids, Michigan, and in the Puzzlers' Directory for 1886, as Lawrence, Massachusetts. Holt also had puzzles in William W. Delaney's "Key to Puzzledom," published in New York in 1906, and reprinted from the Chicago Inter-Ocean, weekly edition, from February, 1897, to 1901, and in several other books of puzzles. In the "Correspondents' Column" of The Boy's Champion(2) for which he wrote serials, is the statement that "Arthur F. Holt is a well-known puzzler as well as novelist."
