The younger Alexandre Dumas, natural son of Alexandre Dumas, pere, and Catherine Lebay, was born in Paris in 1824 and died at Marly-le-Roy in 1895. While he wrote some novels, his best work was as a playwright. His novel, "La dame aux camelias" or the dramatized version of it, is perhaps the only one of his works known to most of the people in this country who know anything at all about him.
