Not much information has been found about Mrs. Jennie Davis Burton. She wrote under the name "Gipsy Glenn" for the Philadelphia Quarterly and Leisure Hour, and under her own name for Beadle. Her first story for the latter appeared in the Saturday Journal for October 28, 1871, and the paper announced that she would thereafter write exclusively for it. She lived at New Castle, Pennsylvania, in 1878. On February 15, 1890, the Banner Weekly carried a short notice of the death of Mrs. Burton's daughter Eva, at the age of 19, at her home in Youngstown, Ohio, and mentioned the fact that Mr. Burton was the publisher of the Southwestern, in Cincinnati.
Stories by Mrs. Burton also appeared in Golden Days, Frank Leslie's Monthly, and other periodicals.
