Frank Starr's Ten Cent Pocket Library (Fig.
60), the first number of which appeared about May 4, 1877, was issued under
the imprint of Frank Starr & Co., 41 Platt Street, at the corner of William
Street. This series appeared in an entirely different form from any other Beadle
publication. The booklets are small, fat 32mos, 5 by 3 ½ inches in size,
with 100 to 160 pages and a colored illustration on the front cover. They sold
for ten cents each. The last issue, No. 5, appeared July 15, 1877. The format,
apparently, was unsatisfactory to publishers or readers.
