The earlier copy, in the pink-beige binding, is part of the "Rugby Series for Boys." It was published around 1904. This cover is called the "Brown Cap Format" by Chase. These copies were originally sold for $.75. Burt began issuing this series in 1896. This particular issue of the title only features a frontispiece by Davis; no other illustrations by him are included. The later copy, in the green binding, is one of the " Ornamental Diamond Format" books, introduced in 1905, originally appearing as the Copyright Edition of the Alger Series for Boys, in Burt's catalogues. It sold for $1. As noted, this issue of the title includes five illustrations by Davis.
